JOB PURPOSEThe Online Production team publishes a range of programme support content across a number of platforms in a variety of ways.The Content Publisher will support the team in generating and publishing interactive content to support a selection of Channel 4's priority television programmes. To that end, he/she will write copy, create quizzes and polls, edit images, organise and upload content.Crucially, the Content Publisher will work outside of core working hours to support the real-time publication of content in line with peak-time. KEY RESPONSIBILITIESAssist in creating and maintaining a content and activity schedule to reflect agreed prioritiesWork with the wider team to assist in gathering and planning content ideas for relevant programmesAssist in publishing interactive content experiences - such as polls, votes and Twitter streams - using Channel 4's publishing tools and templatesWrite succinct and engaging copy related to a wide range of programmes, representing the 'voice of Channel 4'Create promotional images using approved assets and Photoshop templatesBe sensitive to moderation and compliance requirements, escalating as appropriateWork independently outside of core hours to ensure content is published in line with TX or as requiredAs required, liaise with social media managers, online producers, presentation planning and homepage editors to arrange promotion of the interactive content producedManage content changes, technical or schedule driven, at a short notice SKILLS AND COMPETENCIESTechnical & Professional SkillsExperience of writing for onlineAn editorial sensibility with experience from within a creative industryAn understanding of how web and mobile devices work, and the basic technologies behind themStrong Microsoft Office skills and technical aptitudeAn understanding of how social media works best for both users and brandsDemonstrable personal enthusiasm for online media and televisionEducated to A levelAutonomy/Judgement/Decision MakingExcellent attention to detail with the will and ability to judge excellence and quality over "good enough"A self-motivated, can-do attitude, able to complete set tasks and refer up appropriatelyManaging ResourcesExcellent time management skills, able to work across many different projects at once.Relationship ManagementExcellent interpersonal skills, able to create good relationships and positively represent the team throughout the channelAble to communicate effectively and appropriately with colleagues of all levels.Complexity/Problem SolvingA creative problem-solver, able to think around blockages and consider imaginative alternativesAble to thrive in a complex, sometimes ambiguous environment
