DEPARTMENT DESCRIPTION
Channel 4 Online is responsible for defining and managing the Channel 4 viewer experience across the web, mobile, social media and other connected devices.
The department comprises three main functional teams: Online Production, Product Management, and Multiplatform Commissioning.

JOB PURPOSE
The Online Production team publishes a range of programme support content across a number of platforms in a variety of ways.
The Content Publisher will support the team in generating and publishing interactive content to support a selection of Channel 4's priority television programmes. To that end, he/she will write copy, create quizzes and polls, edit images, organise and upload content.
Crucially, the Content Publisher will work outside of core working hours to support the real-time publication of content in line with peak-time.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Assist in creating and maintaining a content and activity schedule to reflect agreed priorities
Work with the wider team to assist in gathering and planning content ideas for relevant programmes
Assist in publishing interactive content experiences - such as polls, votes and Twitter streams - using Channel 4's publishing tools and templates
Write succinct and engaging copy related to a wide range of programmes, representing the 'voice of Channel 4'
Create promotional images using approved assets and Photoshop templates
Be sensitive to moderation and compliance requirements, escalating as appropriate
Work independently outside of core hours to ensure content is published in line with TX or as required
As required, liaise with social media managers, online producers, presentation planning and homepage editors to arrange promotion of the interactive content produced
Manage content changes, technical or schedule driven, at a short notice

SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES
Technical & Professional Skills
Experience of writing for online
An editorial sensibility with experience from within a creative industry
An understanding of how web and mobile devices work, and the basic technologies behind them
Strong Microsoft Office skills and technical aptitude
An understanding of how social media works best for both users and brands
Demonstrable personal enthusiasm for online media and television
Educated to A level
Autonomy/Judgement/Decision Making
Excellent attention to detail with the will and ability to judge excellence and quality over "good enough"
A self-motivated, can-do attitude, able to complete set tasks and refer up appropriately
Managing Resources
Excellent time management skills, able to work across many different projects at once.
Relationship Management
Excellent interpersonal skills, able to create good relationships and positively represent the team throughout the channel
Able to communicate effectively and appropriately with colleagues of all levels.
