Broadcast Support Engineer

London

To maintain a high level of engineering and operational support for studio equipment and related systems, associated hardware and software within, MCR and Productions and all other site and operational areas that facilitate the effective and smooth running within ITN.

KEY TASKS/RESPONSIBILITIES:
- To ensure all ITN Studio equipment and systems operate to appropriate technical standards and are available for use at all times.
- To maintain and operationally support all associated equipment relating to the areas of, MCR, Productions, News gathering and 'agreed' client equipment.
- To replace equipment / systems or make temporary hardware/system changes to bypass failed / faulty equipment in all operational areas.
- Fault find to component level.
- Monitor technical and production output.
- Liaise with Programme Directors and Editors concerning technical issues affecting studio and programme production.
- Advise supervisors and technical management on infrastructure issues requiring attention for reliability, quality and performance.
- Work on special programmes (e.g. Installation of facilities associated with ITN General Election)
- Work flexibly in response to service needs.
- Any other duties as required by your line manager or ITN.

KEY ATTRIBUTES/QUALIFICATIONS:
- Engineering degree or equivalent level qualification.
- Thorough knowledge of digital and analogue studio systems and ability to fault find from first principles.
- Experience of working in a pressurised environment and providing a fast pace, customer focused service.
- Knowledge of broadcast television systems.
- High degree of computer literacy.
- Verbally articulate.
- Effective interpersonal skills.
- Ability to manage own workload, prioritise, and work to deadlines.
- Organised and efficient.
- Robust response to pressure.
- Constructive, creative and enabling approach to problem solving and learning.
- Ability to work as part of a team, interacting effectively, sharing knowledge and developing a good rapport with colleagues quickly.
