Broadcast Researcher

South West/West

Fixers, the successful campaign that helps young people make a difference on issues that are important to them, is looking for a Broadcast Researcher to help make films for regional television news programmes, mainly in the south west and west. The Broadcast Researcher will stay abreast of Fixer projects and establish new contacts and projects that might be of interest to the TV audience. They will propose, research and set up stories, suggest story elements, and ensure that shooting days go smoothly. They may be required occasionally to self-shoot some story elements, provide second camera coverage, and direct sequences with the broadcast crew. The Broadcast Researcher will be a journalist, with a proven track record, who is familiar with television and the technologies that go with it. They must be a self-starter, capable of working on their own - based at home - well organised, ambitious and determined. They must be able to work easily with young people from all social and cultural backgrounds, inspiring and motivating them to become Fixers, and finding new and novel ways to tell broadcast stories about them. They will be expected to regard evenings and weekends as part of their normal work pattern, and will be entitled to time off in lieu for any additional hours worked. They will be expected - like all team members - to work in other disciplines when necessary, and to provide support or resources to other parts of Fixers.
