We are seeking an excellent, experienced archive researcher for our forthcoming 6 x 1 hour World War 2 history documentary series. Your role will be to manage and track down a large amount of film and stills archive. You will be very familiar with the history of World War 2, as well as the key social and political changes that occurred in Europe in the decades before it broke out.The ideal candidate will also have the following skills and experience:* considerable experience working on World War 2 or other C20th history TV programmes for major broadcasters;* strong cost and budget management skills, with the ability to maximise archive time on screen;* familiarity, experience and contacts with large, small and specialised archives in the UK, Europe and North America that contain important WW2 related material including NARA and Library of Congress;* experience working on a documentary series with multiple directors, satisfying their individual programme needs while contributing to the overall series editorial proposition, style and format;* great organisational skills, with experience setting up and managing large amounts of video archive for multiple edits, ensuring rapid and efficient access by picture editors;* excellent knowledge of video, stills and music rights, clearance, costs and post production paperwork;* experience clearing world rights on large amounts of archive; * good interpersonal and negotiating skills;* good team working skills.The following additional skills would give the candidate a distinct advantage:* German language skills;* knowledge and interest in C20th design and engineering;The rate on offer will be subject to the candidate's skills and experience.
