AFX Operator and Final Cut Editor

Central London

The Primary Role:
The Outfit has a small in-house editing facility of 3 x Final Cut/After Effects machines. The role is to become an in-house after effects operator but must also be proficient as a final cut editor - this would involve working alongside freelancers and an in-house technical assistant.
Primarily the role is working on an online TV channel for a premium telecommunications company and the work-flow is mostly stop-frame animation films, so a knowledge of these techniques would be an advantage. However, there will be other projects ranging from commercials to promos to corporate reels.

This is an excellent career opportunity for a creative and technically savvy person to gain amazing experience in a busy production company.

Essential Requirements:
- 2 years commercial experience of After Effects operating - but must also be proficient as a Final Cut editor
- Must be able to show a wide variety of visual effects work - title graphics, 2D animation, colour correcting, compositing, rotoscoping etc
- Ability to take a brief and work creatively taking a project from scratch all the way through to finishing
- Able to cope under pressure and remain level-headed in a very busy environment with tight deadlines
- Prioritise tasks and work effectively without supervision
- Quick thinking, highly motivated and good at problem solving
- Enthusiastic with a cheery disposition
- Hard-working with a positive attitude and willing to take on new challenges
- Very technically savvy and excited about new techniques

Duties will include:
- Ensuring that the afx/editing suites are working efficiently and researching new technologies to ensure they are up to date
- Managing any rushes coming in to the building - ensuring they are digitised into the suites and backed up
- Managing job bags, bins and files and ensuring everything is very organised and labelled correctly
- Ensuring all productions are backed up correctly and promptly when finalised
- Problem solving technical issues with computers

Would be an advantage:
- Knowledge of stop-frame animation filming and editing
- Commercial experience of working across a wide variety of productions
- 3D animation
- Photoshop, Illustrator and In-Design
- Knowledge of camera formats and the production processes of filming
