A fantastic opportunity for an ambitious Acquisitions Professional with cross-cultural sensitivities.We're a successful international broadcaster, now relaunching our UK feed.Your chance to have genuine input at the development stage.The Role:Reporting directly to the Channel Director, the main responsibility of the Acquisitions Manager will be to research and identify high quality, appealing programming for acquisition by the Channel in line with its editorial positioning.Specific responsibilities include:• Negotiate deals with distributors, broadcasters and producers to set a fair and competitive price for programmes • Work with business affairs to ensure the channel secures the appropriate rights and materials• Wok with the operations team to ensure the delivery of programme materials in the correct formats and with appropriate paperwork• Work closely with the Channel Director to identify upcoming programming needs and opportunities, and contribute creative ideas for themes, seasons and other marketable activities• Work as part of the Channel team and other departments in the organization to ensure the smooth flow of content, metadata and information• Ensure that the Channel team is well informed and engaged in the channel's programming, by holding regular screening sessions and distributing screeners.• Stay well informed about the International production and broadcast landscape, and develop knowledge and skills about African production and other international production.• Monitor competitor channels to maintain awareness of the industry.The role will be based at our offices in London's West End.Candidate Profile:To succeed in this role, you will need:A very solid background in an acquisition role within an international broadcaster, or UK broadcaster acquiring global product.You must also have a good knowledge of: • The process of acquisitions, particularly rights issues• The regulatory landscape, Ofcom guidelines in particular• The UK and international television industryAnd skills in: • Negotiating to contract with a range of programme suppliers • Administrative and organization• Applicable computer applications• Written and verbal communications• Fluency in written and spoken English, additional languages a plusAs well as the ability to:• Make swift but accurate editorial judgments in a range of programming genres• Maintain excellent attention to detail at all times• Work well within a small, motivated teamRemuneration:A competitive remuneration package of salary and benefits will be available for the right personYour covering letter should clearly explain your relevant experience, your interest in working for (see company name below), your salary expectations and your availability.Please only apply if you already have the right to work in the UK.
