About Shekhar Bassi

Having spent several months in hospital from June 2022 - September 2023, Shekhar returned to work as part of the BFI Elevate Programme for Disabled Filmmakers and Writers with his project 'Absolute Beginner'. He left hospital with two remotely directed short films 'Dyktator' and 'Struny'. Both shorts were shot in Poland during Shekhar's stay in a London Hospital.

He left hospital with two remotely directed short films 'Dyktator' and 'Struny'. Both shorts were shot in Poland during Shekhar's stay in a London Hospital.

Shekhar's debut feature 'Running With Critches' ', a critically acclaimed psychological drama about isolation, self-shot during Lockdown, premiered at the Adelaide and Sydney Film Festivals. He directed the theatre comedy 'Delivery Only' as well co-writing the documentary 'Something beautiful for Mother Teresa'. Shekhar is developing his second feature 'The Monitor' with Vertigo Productions, Australia. Other multi-award winning short films have featured at Tribeca, Bilbao, New York, Toronto, Durban and London.

Skills and experience: Visual-storytelling, screenwriting, cinematography, script development, trained actor in Meisner technique, directing actors, leadership skills, solution oriented.
