Made the definitive documentary series on Britain's most loved sit com. I recreated the sets in a large studio (Dukes Island in Acton). - brought back together all the cast and crew (including Sir David Jason, Nick Lyndhurst) and discovered new material which had never been broadcast before including unseen outtakes, foreign re-makes, the US pilot, rehearsal tapes and even a lost episode which John Sullivan had written for an oil company to be shown in schools about North Sea Gas. This was legion in a cupboard in a school in Aberdeenshire and its discovery made the font pages of both The Sun and The Mirror.
This 6 x 60 series (originally it was going to be 5 x 60 but given the wealth of material we uncovered meant I could offer up a bonus sixth episode) also featured many celebrity fans including Jonathan Ross, Danny Baker, Theo Paphitus and James Buckley.
Rather than do the usual chronological time line in the series I themed each episode which allowed us to go between old archive and more recent - and gave us the freedom to explore storylines both off and on screen.
Narrated by Terrence Stamp - the series has been very successful and was the channels highest rated show that year. Its still being shown and achieving high numbers each time it gets a run out.
