About Nick Hildred

I love writing, whatever it might be. I've developed and written 15 series for BBC Radio; written prime-time TV entertainment shows (amongst others) for BBC, Channel 4 and Channel 5; I've script-doctored horror movies; I've been an online copywriting specialist for a host of big brands (including 12 years as copywriter for Moonpig.com and 4 years each for Walkers and BirdsEye); and have been writing

I love writing, whatever it might be. I've developed and written 15 series for BBC Radio; written prime-time TV entertainment shows (amongst others) for BBC, Channel 4 and Channel 5; I've script-doctored horror movies; I've been an online copywriting specialist for a host of big brands (including 12 years as copywriter for Moonpig.com and 4 years each for Walkers and BirdsEye); and have been writing scripts freelance for the world's leading whiteboard explainer animation studio (WeAreCognitive) for the last 7 years, and the same thing for The Guardian online this year.

I also love Podcasting (and anything audio TBH). I have Produced/Written/Directed/Sound Engineered/Sound Designed hundreds of scripted comedy podcast episodes, plus interviews. My work includes end to end production from first ideas, through development, setting up websites/online presence/RSS feeds, writing, script editing, organising acting and writing teams, scheduling recordings, directing recording sessions, sound engineering/design (primarily using ProTools, but can muddle through with Adobe Audition) and finally publishing episodes. I also direct the Voice Over sessions for animations with WeAreCognitive, working with different studios, voice artists and clients. I really love doing audio and have experience behind the mic as a performer to add to all that.

CV gaps are caused by either being the anchor parent for my daughter over the last 14 years, or being end of life carer for my father between 2010 and 2012.

I have two dogs, so I walk a lot. I'm a mad-keen snowboarder, with a penchant for sea-kayaking, tennis and going to the gym. Unfortunately I also like overeating, which is why I need to do all that exercise.

I have been freelancing as a writer and VO director for the last 7 years, working extensively with WeAreCognitive, the world's leading whiteboard explainer animation company. Working with clients including RSA, The Houses of Parliament, The Royal Society, the Red Cross, I take complicated subject matter and turn it into 2-3 minute animation scripts. Once scripts are finalised, I direct the Voice Over sessions, working with a variety of professional artists and recording studios to create voice overs that are clear, serve the subject matter and meet the requirements of clients.

I'm also a Podcast Producer. I've been show running the bi-weekly scripted comedy sketch show Release The Clowns Sketch Comedy Podcast since 2017. It's a 15-20 minute show with an active following in over 20 countries worldwide. My duties include organising a team of 15 writers and 10 actors, scheduling recordings, running the studio sessions (and, since Covid, running remote recording sessions with up to 10 actors), sound engineering, sound editing and sound design to create the end audio product, before uploading it to our website https://releasetheclowns.podbean.com

A wide experience in various aspects of writing, from jokes, monologues, songs and links to panel game scripts, copywriting, sitcom and film scripts. Also, script editing, research, organising writing teams, team writing and working closely with presenting talent.
