Matthew Barnes

Matthew Barnes specialises in media management and offline editing; specifically with Avid Media Composer and Davinci Resolve. He has skill in both sound mixing and color grading, using Protools, Fairlight and Resolve. With a large portfolio including University and professional projects, he showcases his flexibility and variety of skills.

The covid lockdowns affected millions of people worldwide. For Matthew, this time inspired a period of new-found creativity and passion. He enrolled with Bristol Film School as soon as he was able to, and, despite having no prior experience in filmmaking, he flourished. His adaptability gave way to quick learning; he learned how to be productive to a high standard on a short deadline. He practised and developed his skills in editing and various softwares. His work is quality, speaking to his talent and passion. Years of experience in administration proved invaluable here, transferable skills like deadline management meant he quickly found a place for himself providing support on workflow; to the point he was able to teach his techniques to new students in lectures and private sessions, fully with the Universities support, encouragement and funding.

Whilst new to the industry, he is fortunate enough to balance passion, skill and commitment to each of his projects. An adaptable and eager editor, his varied work and quick learning lends well to all that he works on.
