Art Directors in the Sky Creative digital team in eExperience lead and engender an innovative, inspirational, collaborative creative approach within their projects and teams. With a successful history of creative art direction, Art Directors will understand the importance of user-centred design, finding balance while pushing the boundaries of what they can do, and promote industry leading design practice for all aspects of their team. Art Directors will also help the Creative Director to manage, develop and retain a team of the best creatives for the business.

This role is required to support the Sales & Service area of Sky known as eExperience. The eExperience creative team focuses on supporting our current and future customer base. They support Sky's digital sales, service and help channels, ensuring they are intuitive, efficient and that they are built with our customer's needs at heart. This role exists to ensure that the customer experience is world class. In addition to sales and service, the role also supports entertainment through 'Find & Watch' - creatively surfacing Sky's content across a variety of platforms and channels.

The Art Directors collaborate with the Creative Director, other Art Directors, Designers and User Experience practitioners to define and set the tone for art direction across their projects and team. They will manage small teams of visual designers and interaction designers. They will be expected to contribute creative pitches, work with internal stakeholders and external agencies, and lead their teams by example.

Art Directors will practice and promote a high level of creativity, professionalism and standards within their teams, within and across project teams, creative teams, stakeholders and partners across BSKYB in relation to their projects. They will be experienced in their discipline, and be able to demonstrate a high degree of proficiency and skill in design and running a team of designers.

Key responsibilities
*Practice and promotion of contemporary design thinking as it relates to their area of the business
*Able to work independently or provide creative art direction and inspiration to their teams, colleagues, and internal and external stakeholders
*Participate in and lead workshops and sessions that engender the best ideas and outcomes
*Provide art direction and management of teams across multiple projects from concept through to completion on multiple platforms
*From an initial briefing (where they may be required to help in the development of the brief), develop design concepts that seek to understand the needs of the business and customers
*Learn about and promote use of the established brand identity and design values of BSKYB and work to push boundaries and advance our brand strategy
*Work closely with user experience teams to ensure creative and functional designs are seen as a part of the same solution
*When necessary, work with teams of vendors, partners or other external participants, generating multiple concepts for campaigns or projects
*Support the Creative Director in working with clients, stakeholders, delivery managers, project managers, strategy team members, etc. to develop concepts for presentation to management
*Collaboratively work with a team including user experience designers, creative technologists, designers, product managers, marketing and editorial staff
*Work with internal teams to generate ideas and concepts for internal pitches and proposals
*Support the Creative Director by being an advocate for the digital team across the business
*Manage, inspire and mentor teams of designers
*Promote outstanding quality control over concepts and projects
*Demonstrate a good understanding of social trends and how to effectively integrate them into design solutions
*Understand usability and navigation issues and integrate these into overall design concepts
*Collaborate with technology experts throughout the project phases to ensure the interactive feasibility of any design work and to strive for best-practice solutions.
*Produce new graphics, illustrations and animations for multi-platform projects according to design briefs.

Required Experience
*A proven track record management experience working with large-scale web sites,
e-marketing, and advertising ideally designing within a b2c e-commerce context.
*Must possess a thorough understanding of interactive communications and delivery systems, processes, and user interface design as well as industry best practices.
*Knowledge of layouts, graphic fundamentals, typography & limitations of the web & responsive design.
*Ability to storyboard or translate ideas to designers and develop innovative motion graphics solutions.
*A strong working knowledge of user centred experience design, brand development, social marketing, interactive commerce and the creative process.
*Advanced knowledge of Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign & Flash. Knowledge and understanding of Axure, Omnigraffle, HTML, DHTML CSS, Actionscript, Agile, Waterfall and Prince2 methodologies is desirable.
*Degree, masters educated or experience in related field or equivalent visual design and management experience. Ability to lead projects from concept to completion

*Apply best practices in user interface and interactive design, including image optimisation and site mapping
*Ability to translate brand and marketing campaigns into engaging, functional digital creative, to make evaluative judgments, communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing and to supervise and train employees, to include organizing, prioritising, and scheduling work assignments
