Videographer - 3 x Historical Theatrical Short Films
Chelmsford
We are working with a local museum to create 3 x short films with a 2-3 minute duration each to be played within the museum.
- Within the advised budget, we are looking to work with a videographer, or cameraperson / editor who can own and deliver the full process during filming - from shooting, to lighting, sound, limited direction across the two shooting days (in terms of directing for the shots and edits they will be looking to incorporate), and through to the editing and final delivery. The aim is to give you a good degree of creative freedom in compiling the films into engaging and exciting pieces of content , albeit based on the below shooting style.
- We will be shooting the 3 films across 2 full days.
Shooting & Acting
- Each story is being scripted, and will be acted by a local drama group, focusing on a particular story within Chelmsford's history - notably 1. The Mildmay Family, 2. Witchcraft, 3. The Plague.
- The aim is to give visitors a visual snapshot of that particular event and time in history, and we are keen for them to feel like they have a good basic understanding of that particular story - who, what, why, when and where.
- Overall we are looking for a 'talking heads' style piece for all 3 short films, all with a limited black backdrop, lighting, and only a couple of props - to really focus in on the key messages of the stories and help bring them to life, and also to ensure that the studio setup is as straightforward as possible on both days.
- Each story will have 3-4 actors playing key characters, and they have been briefed to think about how to compose their lines and scenes to lend itself to a talking head style of shooting.
- As reference, we have pulled together the following sample ideas to help explain the style we are looking for: tiny.cc/HICHL.
- We see the films focusing in on the characters as they say a piece to camera, supported in editing by close crop shots of their costumes or limited props, and potentially voice overs if needing to record some limited supporting sound on the day. All of this can be discussed and agreed upon in advance of shooting.
Dates
- We will be facilitating the production of the short films across two shooting days, ideally in a studio local to Chelmsford, currently earmarked for Saturday 16th and Sunday 17th March.
- The rough cut would need to be complete by Thursday 28th March for the client's approval, with final delivery by Monday 8th April.
- On a slight side note, if you are local to Chelmsford and have preferences on potential locations to shoot, then we would love to hear about them - with a view to arranging a visit to the space together to confirm suitability, and also to talk through shooting plans some time in mid-February.
Thank you for your time, and I look forward to hearing from you.
