We are looking for a Video Journalist/Field Producer for a new international news service. We are looking for creative and innovative journalists to work in locations around the world to help shoot, edit and produce compelling stories. Working closely with our correspondents, the successful candidate will be part of a nimble team covering stories affecting people across the globe and bringing diverse voices and viewpoints to the screen.A talented film maker, they are able to aggressively news gather using new, mobile technology and social media tools suitable for an age of on-the-go journalism, and turn complex stories into authentic, compelling video reports. Candidates must understand the power and speed of mobile journalism and its ability to tell stories that can't be reached with a bigger team.Key ResponsibilitiesMain responsibilities include, but are not limited to:?• Work with correspondents to set up and produce compelling stories• Shoot on iPhones and other small cameras and edit in the field• Conduct in-depth research for breaking news & investigative stories• Discover, identify and interview newsmakers, eyewitnesses and other notable figures• Chase story leads from personal contacts, social media, newswires, affiliated and independent news services, newspapers and magazines, and other news sources• Help correspondents write scripts for multiple platforms• Clearly communicate with executive producers, the planning team and news desk on coverage plans• Ensure accuracy and compliance with editorial standards• Implement security and safety protocolsSkills and Experience• Strong filming and editing skills• Experience working in the field• Understand the opportunities from shooting with mobile phone kit• Ability to generate innovative ideas for news coverage• Strong news judgment, thorough knowledge of world affairs and current events, geopolitics, foreign policy and history• Capacity to multi-task and work in a fast-paced and demanding live news environment• Excellent communication skills and professional conduct, especially in high-pressure and stressful situations• Exceptional research and writing skills• Solid working knowledge of TV production• A thorough understanding of the role of social media in newsgathering and output• Education to degree level preferred, not requiredQualifications/RequirementsThe responsibilities associated with this position are not limited to the above description and the post holder may be required to carry out any other tasks as requested and within capabilities.LOCATIONLondonPOSTED ON9th Apr 2020APPLY BY23rd Apr 2020
