Video Ethnographer / Documentary-maker (speaking Malayalam and/or Telugu)

London - South India

We are looking for documentary-makers or video ethnographers (self-shooter/editors) fluent in at least one of these languages: Malayalam and Telugu for a social research project. UK based candidates are preferred but could be flexible on this. It is vital that you have a genuine interest in learning about people and culture, and an observational style of film-making. It is essential that you are fluent in at least one of the languages listed above as we will need you to conduct filmed ethnographic interviews in South India (in Kerala and Andhra Pradesh) and edit the interviews in that language (preferably in our London office but could be flexible on this). You must also be fluent in English, and you must be a competent editor (Adobe Premiere Pro). Previous ethnographic/social research experience is very desirable. This is an exciting opportunity to explore the world of farming and cocoa production in India, meet local farmers, their families and communities. Fieldwork in South of India will be preceded by a briefing and is likely to take place between late November and early December - but could also be postponed to January/February depending on logistics. Editing in London (preferably, but could be flexible on this) will follow thereafter Approx. 4-5 weeks of work More information available on request
