Video editor opportunity at Nova Studios. At Nova Studios we are on the look-out for a talented video editor.
Do you know how to tell a story with style? Do you understand how rhythm, pace, grammar, colour, light and a major chord affect the message? Do you care how the split-second movement of a hand or eye can take a viewer across the line between indifference and tears?
And can you apply that same care and attention to a two minute safety film for an engineering company shot in a railway shed?
If so, then we can't wait to hear from you. At Nova Studios we make all kinds of films, but we put the same amount of love into everything we do.
So whether it's a 40 minute film about the life of a 'lost' British composer, a feature length documentary shot over ten years telling the story of the rise of a Sierra Leonean footballer, a five minute short as part of a Holocaust memorial project, a one minute corporate Christmas message from the head of the world's biggest diamond company, or a three minute internal comms feature about broadband in East Yorkshire - whatever it is - and at Nova we do all of these things - we need you to have the skill to take a story, tell it and sell it like it was the best job you ever had.
Nova Studios is a small and successful company, based in Hull, with a reputation as one of the best video production companies in the North of England.
Since we started out in 2007, our workload and turnover has grown every year - and now we need a skilled editor to join the team and take a valued role in moving the business forward.
Your portfolio is more important than your qualifications, but great if you can flash both. We'll need to see at least 2 or 3 pieces of work you've edited that show great story-telling and commercial sensibilities - not necessarily in the same film, but great if they are. We want to know that you can cut audio and visual. And please do send us a CV too - but we're equally interested in who you actually are, not simply what you've done.
That aside, you do need to be very familiar with Premiere, pretty familiar with mixing sound and colour grading and you'd ideally have a good sprinkling of After Effects with some basic design skills too.
You'll be very involved in the whole post-production process - getting the words and pictures out of the camera, chopping them up and turning them into something great.
You'll be used to working to a brief, working fast and never missing a deadline. You'll be happy to make changes you don't always agree with and to patiently find your way through a client's amendments.
If you're a talented graduate then you'll earn around £20k, but depending on your age and experience - and we are looking for some proven experience - let's talk.
You'll take on plenty of responsibility, but you'll be trusted too. We're very family friendly. We're very keen that our business should reflect the diversity of the world we live in. We're supportive and kind. We appreciate music, art, words, food, clothes, telly and politics - not always in that order. We eat together at lunchtimes. We don't watch the clock but we do get the job done. We love it here - maybe you will too...
