BBC Studios' Natural History Unit (NHU) is the leading producer of wildlife programming, creating award-winning content with a world class reputation.
Our output ranges from ambitious landmarks (Green Planet, Dynasties, and the forthcoming Frozen Planet II) to children's programming (Deadly Dinosaurs and Andy's Adventures), as well as ground-breaking adventure, formatted, presenter led, feature docs and event programming such as Endangered for Discovery, Prehistoric Planet for Apple TV+ and the BAFTA winning Springwatch for the BBC.
Following on from the success of Prehistoric Planet, the NHU is embarking on a spectacular CGI-based super landmark.
We are looking for an experienced VFX Producer to work on this major ground-breaking project focusing on prehistoric animals and their behaviour.
Role Responsibility
The VFX Producer will be in charge of delivering the project's visual effects to budget and schedule while working in close collaboration with both the BBC Studios' team and the VFX Vendor commissioned to execute the work.
Duties will include:
Overseeing the BBC Studios' VFX Team in collaboration with the BBC Studios' VFX Supervisor
Breaking down and budgeting sequences
Preparing bid packages for the vendors
Planning & scheduling turnover and delivery schedules
Tracking the status and cost of shots through to delivery
Running a shot & asset database
Preparing and presenting regular budget and schedule reports to Line Producer and adapting information and format for client as required
The Ideal Candidate
You should have experience of leading a VFX team and of delivering complex VFX on VFX heavy shows. You'll be well organized, able to multi task and manage your time efficiently, with excellent communication skills. Experience of tracking shot progress and reporting on costs and schedules is also essential as is a familiarity with database software.
