VFX DevOps / Infrastructure Engineer

London

The Role:
We're looking for a talented full DevOps Engineer to join the team and support our on-prem and cloud platforms. You'll have the opportunity to work with some of the most advanced technologies in graphics processing.

You'll define and implement best practices, propose and lead projects that will advance the technology framework. This will empower and give leverage to all departments, so that they can do their best work - including on-set virtual production technicians, vfx artists on remote workstations, and ml engineers working on cutting edge computer vision problems.

You'll need an overriding focus on the end user experience, using honed project management coordination, and communication skills.

Responsibilities:
Cloud (Azure) and on-prem platform architecture to support deployment and running of various services and platforms, including graphics processing, remote workstations
Development of deployment and automation tools
Contingency planning, setting/meeting milestones, coordinating communications and ensuring that documentation and support needs are accommodated
Remote workstation management (or hybrid models such as Omniverse)
Install, support and maintain servers and storage file systems.
End-to-end data Management and archiving; NAS & SAN (including RAID management). Archival management, LTO tapes, loaders etc. Experience with Cloud Archiving Systems.
Infrastructure and environment support for Perforce, Houdini, Unreal, and various platforms or systems that operate across multiple machines.
Actively mentor and assist in the technical development of junior staff
Be an example of technical excellence

Essential:
Strong familiarity with modern cloud concepts and languages such as AWS, GCP, Azure; Azure preferred.
Experience with distributed processing, preferably GPU-accelerated machine learning or rendering architectures
Experience with scripting, development and configuration management tools
Knowledge of machine learning, visual effects, video game or animation industry is required, especially key components such as Unreal Engine, Houdini and Perforce
Experience ideally vfx / production industry or media / streaming with engineering background
T-shaped specialist, with a generalist mindset

What does success look like? Owning defining and delivering best-in-class outcomes for the following areas:
Remote workstation management (or hybrid models such as Omniverse)
Data Management and archiving
Perforce architecture (e.g. edge vs proxy)
Houdini / Unreal / etc env and plugin management
End-to-end data management with clients (supply / delivery, WIPs etc)
