Trainee Checkout Technician

Metro Broadcast Ltd is looking for a full time Trainee Checkout Technician to join the Team. The successful candidate will be responsible for the preparation and maintenance of video, audio and lighting equipment owned by Metro Broadcast. Working closely with the Checkout Supervisor, you will prepare equipment to go out on events or return to stock after testing or service.
This role would be ideal if you want to take your first step into events and technical production. Your responsibilities will include:
• Preparing video, audio and lighting kit ready to go out on conferences and events;
• Review equipment lists and prepare/check all equipment and cables that are issued for events (querying any gaps or problems);
• Check the quality and presentation of equipment;
• Help to repair and maintain the equipment - report or problem solve technical faults;
• Help to load and unload kit for each job (which may occasionally include rigging equipment on site);
• Ensure equipment is handled and packed in a safe manner;
• Demonstrate effective organisational and communication skills in your role.
The role would best suit a pro-active, self-motivated individual who is punctual, reliable and who adopts a flexible mind-set and approach to their work. You will need to be able to work on your own initiative and be an effective team member and communicator. Your working pattern will involve a flexible combination of early mornings, late evenings and weekend work. Overtime will be available (which will be paid at your normal hourly rate of pay per hour).
