Eurosport is in the midst of a technology overhaul. The new infrastructure is 100% IP (SMPTE 2110 - AES 67) and combined with SDN orchestration and a Broadcast Control System. It is deployed in 2 different datacenters, with more than 20 local offices across Europe connected via the WAN Discovery, and 10 which have production control rooms. These systems support Discovery's EMEA production and broadcast platform. In this context, Eurosport is recruiting a support engineer for its Core Technology department.
Responsibilities
The support engineer takes care of the needs of the 2 tech hubs and their associated markets.
Take charge of complex technical incidents, implementing workarounds to ensure service continuity.
Take ownership of technical issues once incidents are resolved.(Research the final solution/ Gain approval from the involved departments/ Testing the solution/ Implementation of the solution/Produce documentation)
Work with suppliers to regularly review any outstanding issues/tickets that have been raised
Liaise with with the different markets on any current issues/problems
Verifiy/ create maintenance procedures in collaboration with level 1 maintenance and engineering departments
Maintenance of the spare parts management list
Participation in engineering tasks including implementation of new equipment / workflows in collaboration with the lead engineer and modification of configurations related to special events or for any other need
Definition or verification of user workflows vs technical configuration
Verification of handover documents
Qualifications
In depth knowledge & experience of broadcast & production systems (BNCS + Packager, Tag Multiviewer, VizRt, Kahuna, LiveTouch, sQ servers + Isa databases, Technologies used by the MCR (HBR / SNP / etc) and Dataminer)
Ability to think independently and problem solve
Strong communication skills
Daytime + weekday and weekend evenings + on-call duty availability required for this role. Working schedule will be flexible according to events.
