Subtitle / Audio-visual Engineer

Reading, UK

We are now expanding our production team and have an opening for a Subtitle Engineer who has previous experience with WINCAPS and/or EZ Titles. This is a great opportunity for someone wanting to be expand their skills in creating English and foreign-language subtitles, but also gaining experience in voiceover transcription and closed caption audio description. The ideal candidate will have a thorough knowledge of the transcription process, be able to confidently transcribe a range of video and audio genres with speed and accuracy. A strong eye for detail is vital and they must understand the importance of file management and quality assurance of all deliveries to clients.

Key Skills
- Trained in subtitling software in WINCAPS and/or EZ Titles.
- Native English speaker, with excellent spelling and grammar.
- Able to transcribe up to 10 minutes of audio an hour.
- Technically sound in industry standard subtitle formats.
- Higher Education qualification in Audio visual Translation.

- An ability to work well under pressure and to tight/specific deadlines.
- A good level of computer literacy (office packages)
- A confident and professional manner.

Other useful skills but not essential
- Fluent in non-English language.
- Experience in using Subtitle Edit and Annotation Edit.
- Localising Video edits, DVDs and e-learning modules.
- PC and/or Mac literate.
- Working with video including editing, creating graphics, colour correction, SFX and render formats.
- Knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite (After effects, Premiere Pro, Animate, etc).
- Knowledge of Final Cut Pro X.

The successful candidate will also need to demonstrate a general awareness of the media industry and an enthusiasm to learn new skills. You should have a flexible attitude to working hours and enjoy a variable work load. Full training will be provided in all our internal systems and those listed in "other useful skills". The candidate must be local to the Reading area or have an easy commute to our office. Lunch is provided. This is a full time position Monday -Friday (40 hours).
