As the success of Emmerdale continues to grow, we are looking for an experienced Storyliner to join our busy hard working team, ensuring that every single one of our episodes are top quality entertainment.

We need someone bursting with ideas and who can help create heart-wrenching stories like Ashleigh's Alzheimer's and thrilling, twist filled stories like what's next for Emma Barton?

Our Storyliners will write and devise engaging, compelling detailed storylines to an agreed vision, contributing and pitching these ideas to story conference. Whilst attending Story Conferences and the Commissioning Conference, the Storyliner will take notes of agreed stories and their structure and confidently adjust and rework the story document to incorporate notes and changes from the first draft to publication.

As an experienced Storyliner you will have excellent leadership skills and have the ability to lead a story talk through in a constructive and effective manner. You must be able to confidently contribute ideas to team members and be able to work to tight deadlines. You will assist Writers, Script Editors and Production with story queries. You will be responsible for re-writing, re-working and editing storylines where appropriate and work alongside the Story Editor and Story Producer to compile storylines, ensuring that the creative vision is implemented and that all story material is factually accurate.

You must be able to demonstrate an understanding of character, story and structure and have the ability to write clearly and concisely. You will have proven ability to persuade and influence, resolving differences in professional opinions and have an ability to take several different opinions in a meeting and reach a common ground. With an awareness of audience needs, you must have strong planning and organizational skills and be able to demonstrate decisive editorial judgement.

You will have an excellent understanding of what makes a brilliant story and how production works on a serial drama and you must have previous extensive drama Script Editing, Story Editing, Storyliner or writing experience on a long continuing drama.
