About us:
Racecourse Media Group is the umbrella organisation for those 34 racecourses which hold an interest in Racing TV (Sky 426, Virgin 536 and 411, Freeview and YouView 261), Racing TV International (international betting shop/digital service) and Racecourse Data Company (licensor of Pre-Race Data). Racing TV and Racing TV International also broadcast racing from all 26 Irish racecourses.
Key responsibilities:
• Lining up & balancing of all audio channels for broadcast. Testing of mics & earpieces, TBUs and talkback. Adjusting AUX sends when needed to increase levels for presenters.
• Ensuring the studio audio equipment is appropriately handled and stored at the end of the broadcast.
• Liaising with MCR in regard to feeds & establishing spare feeds as required.
• Setting on board dynamics to ensure all audio complies with the Ofcom broadcasting code for TV operations.
• Judge the suitability of course audio & use in house audio FX where necessary. Testing & allocation of spot on channels.
• Establishing & testing IFBs when needed.
• To mix live sound for the Racing TV channel, during live broadcast hours, from the various Mics, Replay Servers, OSs, TBUs, etc.
• To ensure all incoming audio feeds are suitable for broadcast, liaising with MCR to highlight any problems.
• Liaising with EVS op to preview any unheard packages/footage to judge the suitability of audio.
• Informing producer/director of any audio issues.
• Programming individual EQ & dynamic settings specific to the broadcaster.
• Checking mix/minus levels etc and adjusting where needed.
• Listening to on-course commentary prior to a race to provide any additional information that may affect the broadcast & reporting back to the gallery.
Essential skills:
• Proven background as a sound operator in a live gallery environment
• Keen eye for accuracy and detail
• Flexibility to cover according to needs of the channel
• Experience of working on a live sport broadcast an advantage
