Social media is central to the Children's and Education strategy. We want to ensure our campaigns and programming reach as many people in the UK as possible, not just those who already connect with the BBC. Clearly, the age limitations of many social networks present a challenge for us - but with care and thought we can create shareable, engaging social content that helps our brands sing to as wide an audience as possible.
We're looking for a talented creative Social Media Coordinator to join our social media team for Children's & Education. First and foremost a content creator with a flair for witty repartee and an eye for design,
Our accounts aim to support and inspire audiences through original innovative content, and you'll be taking the lead in supporting brands, campaigns through a range of different content across our social platforms.
Main Responsibilities
Help plan the creation, delivery and scheduling of outstanding, engaging social content across CBBC core accounts, and other BBC Children's & Education accounts where relevant
Develop in-depth knowledge of the teen (13-18) audience. You'll know what makes them tick, what will get them interested in our brands - and you'll know what social platforms they are using and why
Create original material in the form of video, text, images and audio in accordance with copyright and compliance requirements, ensuring the tone of our audience engagement is consistent
Establish strong relationships with key stakeholders in campaigns, projects & TV teams to help create and plan impactful social campaigns using branded content
Work closely with wider BBC social media teams to ensure effective sharing of relevant content
Work with external organisations to maximise the potential of reciprocal relationships
This role might require regular out-of-hours and weekend work to publish content and moderate comments. Hours can be negotiated, and time is given back in lieu
Are you the right candidate?
To be successful in this role you will need to demonstrate fantastic creativity, wit, editorial judgement and a strong track record in the production and delivery of campaigns on multiple platforms that engage and build online audiences.
You should have the ability to engage with audiences, in particular to create social content for teen (13-18) audiences, understanding the different social platforms and digital trends amongst this audience
An appreciation of the risks involved in producing social media content for Children's & Education brands and campaigns, especially where it comes to protecting brand values
The ability to build and keep good stakeholder relations, whilst influencing and negotiating content from their TV brand or campaign would be beneficial.
Exceptional knowledge of digital production software such as Adobe Photoshop and Premiere is essential for this role, along with a good understanding of Instagram, TikTok and other social platforms.
