CNN is seeking a motivated candidate for a Social Discovery Producer based in London which will be part of CNN's Global Social Discovery team. The position is responsible for discovering, verifying and delivering user-generated content, identifying bubbling social trends, social stories, social conversations that can be turned into compelling content for CNN's digital, social, and television platforms. The position features a balance of both newsgathering and digital writing.
CNN's portfolio of news and information services is available in seven different languages across all major TV, digital and mobile platforms reaching more than 475 million households globally. CNN International is the number one international TV news channel according to all major media surveys across Europe, the Middle East and Africa, APAC and Latin America and has a US presence, which includes CNNgo. CNN Digital is a leading network for online news, mobile news and social media. What you'll be doing:
As Social Discovery Producer you will have a big focus on tracking International and Domestic social trends around the world, clearing content on social media platforms during breaking news and creating and delivering specific assignments for social and digital driven content.
You will be expected to write engaging, timely stories and social posts to highlight the best content discovered from social platforms.
You will also be a strong liaison between the Social Discovery team and all of CNN's newsgathering teams across the world.
You must be knowledgeable on various social media platforms and have a keen eye for discovering the next trending story and how to investigate where social media content originated from using proper vetting techniques.
What we're looking for:
Significant experience working in a newsroom environment.
Strong editing skills, fluency in social publishing and analytics.
Strong news-gathering and social verification skills.
Fluency in multiple languages is a plus.
Fluency in social media platforms globally.
You should be able to work all shifts including weekends.
