Series Edit Producer

London

We are looking for an accomplished and dynamic Series Edit Producer or Series Producer to work on a returning observational documentary series about aviation for the Smithsonian Channel. Filmed across the State of Alaska, the series includes stories from multiple airports and companies including time-critical cargo operations, helicopter rescue missions, bush pilots, aircraft maintenance as well as Customs Boarder Protection and the Police.

Stories are character-led but driven by dramatic and fact-driven narratives that cover a range of topics. As this series is a US commission, fast-paced, dramatic, tension-filled and direct storytelling is essential. The ability to identify and creatively find links in stories that build background and help strengthen narrative, which may not be immediately evident in the rushes, is a particularly key skill.

As Series Edit Producer, you'll be required to cut two episodes of your own, but also oversee other edits while the Series SP is away on location. Applicants should be excellent script writers, able to adeptly use American language and vernacular. You'll ideally have vast experience cutting and writing for US networks, with a strong background in observational documentaries and be a great team leader.

The contract will be around 18 weeks, starting in early to mid-March.

We are an equal opportunities employer and we therefore welcome applications from all backgrounds.
