We are currently seeking applications for the following role on a forthcoming series for BBC.Production Office and Edit is based in Glasgow, filming will be across the UK. Following is a brief outline of the position. Please do not apply if you do not meet the requirements or are unable to base yourself in Glasgow for the duration. Series Director - Specialist Factual Documentary SeriesLightly formatted specialist factual documentary series, which will follow contributors over an extended period of time as they experience some potentially life changing events.Will work directly to; Executive Producer in collaboration with Production Management and indirectly to; the Hop and MD's.Dates tbc - awaiting budget sign off - expected to be approximately 79-week contract from end of July 2017Role requirements:• Minimum 6 broadcast credits in similar role or on similar projects.• Previous experience of extended schedule specialist factual series.• Proven ability in large multi-layered productions, involving, Presenters, experts, contributors.• Requires excellent scripting, narrative skills and a track record of identifying and selecting stories in a way which demonstrates strong journalistic skills and good editorial judgement. • Must show evidence of good interpersonal skills and experience in dealing with high profile talent and subject experts. • Must also have proven experience of interacting and dealing with contributors and sensitive subject matters pertaining to their contribution.• Experience of reconciling artistic aspiration with financial constraint, and working collaboratively with Production Management, and Execs in planning and revising production budgets and schedules and delivering programmes fully cleared, on time and to budget. • Requires proven time management skills and effective collaboration with the production team.• Must have a good knowledge of Health & Safety, work related policies and relevant legislation - such as copyright, music clearance, bribery etc.• Must be able to lead and motivate Assistant Producers, Researchers and other members of the production team, ensuring they have clear and realistic objectives and treat team with consideration despite pressure of deadlines. • Proven comprehensive understanding of the technical, editorial and delivery processes and requirements and the decisions involved.• Capable of dealing with changing circumstances, and schedules in a calm & professional manner as necessary• Creative and imaginative approach to problem solving• Flexible approach to work and working schedule
