Senior Production Executive

London

We're looking for a talented Senior Production Executive, highly experienced in factual and factual entertainment programming, to join our innovative commissioning team. Supporting the Director of Commissioning and the Head of Production with all new commissions, this is a truly unique opportunity for an experienced Production Executive or Manager with an excellent track record of end to end production management to share in the ultimate responsibility for the production, delivery and budgeting of all originated content at UKTV.

Department Summary

UKTV's commissioning department is responsible for the development, commissioning and execution of commissioned, co-productions and advertising funded programmes/product placement projects across the UKTV channels. We operate a fully 360 model of commissioning with particular focus on the commercial opportunities offered by our investment into original content. The department works in broad genre terms across factual, lifestyle and entertainment.

Key Responsibilities

General
•Support the Director of Commissioning, the Director of Commercial Partnerships and seven commissioning executives with all new commissions
•Specifically responsible for factual and factual entertainment output
•Negotiate production budgets & schedules and align editorial requirements in order to deliver on time and at the right price and ensure that this information is communicated to key internal stakeholders. With special responsibility for Live Sports and Live Entertainment and complex projects across all genres
•Works closely with the L&BA Team to ensure consistency of rights and clearances on all projects and talent deals
•Works closely with the Finance Team following UKTV procedures and managing commissioning T&E and the flow of information on final costs
•Works closely with the Commercial Team to maximise ancillary, especially distribution income
•Assists the Head of Production to forge links with other broadcasters and D/HOPs in the Indie sector in order to benchmark rates paid, rights/clearances acquired and monitor industry standard practices and produce a 'health check' as to how UKTV could do better
•Works with the Head of Production to foster good relationships with trade bodies such as Equity, PACT, BAFTA/albert, CDN and Creative Skillset in order to maintain knowledge and champion diversity both on and off screen
•Deputises for the Head of Production as required
•To live, embrace and be a role model for UKTV's values
•Responsible for diversity monitoring across all UKTV Originals in order to ensure
•Runs the development slate and development funding budgeted

Complexity & Problem Solving:
•Advise Commissioners and Production Companies on different production approaches to solve budgetry and scheduling issues
•Manage multiple projects concurrently requiring excellent organisation
•Work to tight turnaround and pressured work environment to delivery complex projects within tight budgetary and scheduling constraints

Managing Relationships
•Collaborate with colleagues across all areas of the business to deliver successful commissioned programmes
•Foster robust but collaborative relations between UKTV and its content suppliers, making UKTV a broadcaster of choice
•Work closely with the Commissioning team and the Channels, ensuring that their editorial vision is reflected in the budgets and schedules that are agreed
•Managing and/or overseeing the management of large production teams preferably in live sport and/or entertainment

Commercial Impact
•Maximise UKTV's ablity to profit from the commercial exploitation of IP by negotiating reversioning budgets and ensuring that distributors have the correct deliverables as quickly as possible
•Review cost reports, conduct audits and ensure value for money is achieved by negotiating preferred supplier rates with suitable companies

Business Impact / Strategic Responsibility
•Assist the Head of Production with taking a strategic approach
•Work closely with the Legal and Business Affairs team to ensure that the correct rights and commercial terms have been taken into consideration when budgeting
•To act as a central point of contact, both for Production Companies and all internal UKTV departments, TVT and Red Bee Creative, ensuring that delivery of specially commissioned output is managed and communicated effectively
•Investigate ways in which UKTV can leverage its spend by negotiating ratecards that can be rolled out to its suppliers

Knowledge, skills & experience
•An experienced Production Executive with an excellent track record of end to end production management with significant experience in the role of Head of Production or Production Executive either for a production company or a broadcaster
•Previous experience of Sports and Live event production a significant advantage
•Up to date technical production knowledge in the Live and Sports arenas
•An understanding of the multi-channel environment
•The ability to take a proactive and flexible approach to work and be comfortable with a dynamic environment with constantly changing priorities
•Excellent negotiator, presenter, influencer and relationship manager
•Strong IT skills, including the use of Excel
•Strong relationship management and communication skills with the ability to work collaboratively with colleagues across a number of departments and services
•A genuine passion for TV
