We are looking for a Senior Media Operator to join the Sky News playout team as a part of the wider Sky Production Services team, based in Sky Studios in West London.The role:The Senior Media Operator ensures that all material plays out to air correctly and is a vital component of the execution of slick television output.The Senior Media Operator will maintain running orders, ensuring that all video clips are queued correctly to play out to air. The role requires technical expertise of various types of equipment including EVS and Abekas.A Senior Operator is the main source of fast turnaround and via the use of an EVS LSM, clips can be played out to air within seconds of coming into the building. Working with the production team, the Senior Media Operator will need an editorial judgement in order to pick out and produce the best vision for air.In the event of a system failure, the senior media operator will be required to play all clips out to air manually. This requires strong focus, concentration and a calm persona to ensure no mistakes make it to air.The role serves Sky Sports News predominantly but is requires close working relationships with Sky Sports News, Soccer Saturday and other sky departments. The role requires high levels of customer service and client focus. Building strong relationships with colleagues and external clients is key to success in the role. The ideal candidate will also be adaptable and will embrace change as we keep up with, and help drive, technological advances.Ultimately though we're looking for somebody who is passionate about making great television, who wants to constantly drive change and who wants to have an 'input on output' from day one. Your Skills:- Ability to demonstrate clear and concise communication skills with colleagues and customers alike, in order to provide a high standard of relevant and timely information pertaining to the work carried out- You will also need to be highly organised to deal with and prioritise your daily workload.- The ability to assess, maintain and develop own performance and aid the team performance objectively, against agreed productivity and quality targets is essential- Previous experience within broadcast media environment is highly advantageous. - A passion for the industry is a must and a general understanding of broadcast is essential.- A strong knowledge of News and current affairs is a must.- A high level of editorial understanding is advantageous.As with all roles in Content Services, this position is shift-based to support the department. Current rotas are day shifts of Monday to Friday or a 7-day fortnight, but this is subject to change, and so flexibility is important
