Senior Media Asset Archivist

London

Al Jazeera Media Network would like to hear from all experienced Archivists who are interested in working fulltime at our London Broadcast Centre.
Working as a Senior Media Asset Archivist you are expected to understand the requirements of news and programme production and have the ability to provide
excellent service and support to all Media Operations clients. You must understand archiving standards & processes, cataloguing metadata, footage rights and have experience of the tools required to manage and achieve the implementation of these.
Main responsibilities include:

• Service research requests for all internal departments and external clients, ensuring accuracy and fast turnaround in a broadcast critical environment.

• Ensuring the London Archive captures and enhances all video created by European Bureaux and London based camera crews. Editing rushes on Avid systems.

• Identifying and processing programmes, rushes and agency content into archive storage adhering to Network policies.

• Cataloguing archived content to a high level of detail and accuracy.

Other tasks include:

• Training all producers and new staff on Archive video rights, agency and archive agreements in place, use of Avid, VPMS systems and 3rd party sites to access archive video.
• Online Avid Server Management
• Sourcing older rushes from our Tape Library and ingesting to server.

Solid and demonstrable experience in a similar role is essential and you must be willing to work shifts, including weekends, Christmas & New Year. An interest in news and current affairs, a willingness to learn proprietary equipment and applications, and strong written and verbal communication skills are also essential.
