Senior Broadcast News Editor (ideally fluent in English and Arabic)

Job: Duty Editor/ Senior Broadcast News Editor

Primary Tasks: To take responsibility and accountability as a senior member of the team by managing the daily news agenda across all platforms, driving key stories 'on the day' news coverage and commissioning the Assignment desk to deliver high quality content whilst managing deadlines and all resources to an exemplary high standard.

Main Duties & Responsibilities: Write, translate and adapt items, news stories or programme material and to edit packages at the desktop. To liaise closely with team colleagues and all contributors, reporters, stringers and when commissioning material, to provide effective guidance and support. Liaise with correspondents and producers, gathering information and advice on stories and coverage. Provide ideas and suggestions for programmes, stories and attend pre programme and planning meetings when required. To work on the assignment desk, plan daily news coverage, commissioning, TV and digital content from correspondents in the field. Oversee the strategic planning and research, commission reporters and stringers. Coordinate coverage of major events of interest to broad audiences whilst managing ; Manage and deploy staff with the necessary editorial and technical expertise and interpersonal skills who will be able to fit into a diverse environment. Deputise for Input/Output Editors in their absence as required.

Essential Skills:
* Communicate and Co-ordinate to ensure presenters, reporters and production staff are fully briefed on programme material.
* To manage, select and deliver material from newsgathering teams, particularly reporters in the field of output.
* Work closely with Editors to agree priorities and allocate relevant resources within budget.
* Oversee teams to produce timely and accurate content for the main stories of the day and lead the coverage of breaking news.
* To train and develop employees and junior members of the team and provide guidance, support and direction.
* Manage, conduct and record risk assessments as required and in line with the company security and safety policy.
* Dealing with live 'breaking news' and developing ideas resulting in turning into successful creative programme with speed.
* Experience in a similar Arabic TV environment at a senior level & working with live news coverage.

Requirements:
* Able to demonstrate strategic, conceptual and analytical skills including a solid understanding of Journalistic and Editorial knowledge. Ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines.
* Leadership orientated and able to coach, instructor, motivator, mentor and be viewed as a team builder.
* Experience in financial budgeting. BA degree or equivalent.
* 10 years or more experience in television broadcasting.
