Job: Senior Broadcast Journalist

Primary Tasks:
The role of a Senior Broadcast Journalist is to take responsibility and accountability as a senior member of the team by providing an exemplary high standard of editorial output and managing deadlines and resources.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:
· Write, translate and adapt items, news stories or programme material and to edit packages at the desktop.
· Liaise with correspondents and producers, gathering information and advice on stories and coverage.
· Provide ideas and suggestions for programmes, stories and attend pre programme and planning meetings when required.
· Manage and undertake pre and post production and studio work, both live and pre-recorded.
· Communicate and Co-ordinate to ensure presenters, reporters and production staff are fully briefed on programme material.
· Oversee the strategic planning and research, commission reporters and stringers.
· Plan long term projects and manage the commissioning and designing program features.
· Train and develop employees and junior members of the team and provide guidance, support and direction
· Deputise for Editors in their absence as required.

Key Skills/ Personal Attributes and Knowledge:
· Able to demonstrate strategic, conceptual and analytical skills including a solid understanding of Journalistic and Editorial knowledge.
· Previous experience as a Senior Journalist role or similar role.
· Experience of managing through organisational challenges and unifying teams.
· Proven problem-solving skills.
· Leadership orientated and able to coach, instructor, motivator, mentor and a team builder
· Effective presentation skills using multimedia tools.
· Successful track record of conveying programme ideas to the Editors and contributing to the planning process
· To work on the assignment desk, plan daily news coverage, commissioning, TV and digital content from correspondents in the field.
· Present live TV segments and slots on air as well as presenting for recorded slots as required.
· Previous experience in broadcast media working with live news coverage.

Requirements:
· Fluent in Arabic (Spoken and Written), modern standard Arabic language
· Good standard of spoken and written English.
· Experience in a similar Arabic TV environment at a senior level
· Minimum 5 years' journalism experience.
· BA degree or equivalent, A-Level English or equivalent
· Ability to travel internationally when required
