Children's InHouse Productions is the award-winning production arm of the UK's foremost kids' broadcaster, BBC Children's. The acclaimed In House unit, with production bases in Salford and Glasgow, produces content across all genres for 0 to 12.The team will be based in MediaCityUK, however candidates interested in remote working will also be considered for this position.'JoJo and Gran Gran' follows the life of a four-year old girl called JoJo and her fun and wise grandmother Gran Gran, who looks after her while her parents are working. Mixing beautiful animation with inspiring live action inserts, each episode follows the pair as they fill their day with fun activities and new experiences: from baking St Lucian Banana Bread to searching for Dinosaurs in the local Museum. The show celebrates the role of modern Grandparents in many kids' lives through core themes of family, community but most importantly, love.The team are looking for an experienced Script Editor to join the team.Main ResponsibilitiesReporting mainly to the Series Producer, the successful candidate will mediate between the Writer's creative desires and the editorial needs of production.As Script Editor you will evaluate scripts and give a different perspective. Your role is to help Writers and Producers realise the full potential of their storylines.You will be responsible for managing a busy script schedule with several scripts in-play at any one time. You will work to ensure that scripts run to schedule and flag if one is running behind.The Script Editor will ensure quality of writing is consistently achieved throughout the production.The Script Editor will work with the Series Producer to recruit the Writing team, helping to nurture new talent. You will then build strong working relationships with a team of external Writers, providing clear notes and continuous support.You will collaborate to arrange and be present in Writing Rooms, supporting the Series Producer with presentations and leading breakout spaces.You will also liaise professionally with stakeholders and consultants to collate and interpret feedback on each script, helping to resolve contradictory notes.As and when needed, the Script Editor will be responsible for polishing scripts and locking final drafts for approval with the Series Producer and Executive Producer.Are you the right candidate?Experience of writing or editing for animation, ideally for pre-school audiences.Experience and ability to interpret notes from various stakeholders, contribute to the generation of ideas and the resolution of script problems.An awareness of BBC editorial guidelines and other compliance policies - and in particular those of CBeebies or other pre-school brands.Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively and appropriately with a wide variety of internal and external partners, including a team of writers.Experience supporting emerging writers through the whole script process with regular feedback, clear notes and the ability to recognise potential.
