Researcher

Hartlebury

We're looking for a Researcher to join our talented Film Team in the West Midlands. We are a busy bunch of over 33 experts, all in-house, working across the entire production process from development to delivery.

Almost every project we do is different, and we're looking for a researcher who is happy to be involved in every step of the process and keen to learn. The role involves working closely with producers on the production of films as well as the creative team researching for new briefs and development.

The role includes pre production as well as many ad hoc company admin and office management tasks, so a flexible and proactive 'can do' attitude is essential. Rest assured, we all share tea and coffee making duties! The right candidate will blend in with our friendly and collaborative company culture.

Ideal Candidate:

We're looking for an experienced researcher who is looking to make it as an assistant producer and ultimately a producer. Someone ambitious and hands-on who likes taking charge of a wide variety of projects and can anticipate the needs of our producers and suggest solutions.

Applicants should have these essential characteristics:

• One to two years previous experience in a production or shoot environment (in any industry, made up of in-house roles or freelance positions)
• Great research skills and the ability to gain a firm understanding of any subject quickly to present to producers.
• Has ambitions to be a producer of videos for brands, comms and engaging social campaigns.
• Have a genuine interest in making campaign based films and can come up with creative ideas to briefs in a team brainstorm.
• Be organised, with attention to detail and excellent time management skills.
• Good computer literacy skills (particularly working on Teams, Outlook, Trello, resource management software)
• Good communication skills.

Skills that are of benefit but not essential include:

• Working knowledge of basic production software like Premiere, Avid, Photoshop etc..
• Edit assistant/data management experience

From the get-go, you should be confident with carrying out the following tasks with minimal supervision:

Production:
• Assisting with all aspects of pre-production (paperwork, locations, talent, legals, licensing, travel, accommodation and catering booking, sourcing crew and kit, booking suppliers)
• Assisting on shoots (Running, Talent Chaperoning, 1st AD, 2nd Camera)
• Assisting in Post-Production (Sitting with our in-house editors to craft cuts of simple videos)

Pitching:
• Research for briefs
• Sourcing example locations, talent, and references
• Contributing creative ideas

The role maybe partly remote at first, but candidates must be based within commuting distance of Hartlebury. Once COVID restrictions lift, the expectation will be for the position to be an office based.
