BBC Childrens is looking for Researchers to work on the second series of Ferne and Rory's Vet Tales. We are looking to recruit 2 Researchers who have proven experience in delivering engaging and inspiring factual entertainment content.

Our content seeks to entertain, inform and empower children, adding real value to their lives. Ferne and Rory's Vet Tales meet children from all over the UK with their pets that have a medical issue or condition that needs to be addressed. They learn what the situation is and spend time together at the vet's to find out what the animal needs to make their condition better.
Role Responsibility
To be able to contribute new and engaging ideas for new series and programmes.
Researchers are expected to help originate and produce excellent content by contributing first class research effort as well as prioritising and organising information.
To collate and share thorough research notes, and accurately brief all relevant members of the production team.
To be able to work as part of a strong and effective team. Able to demonstrate judgment on when to refer issues to Assistant Producer / Producer.
To work with the Producer and wider team to find diverse child contributors for the show.
To work productively with presenters and build effective working relationships with both adult and child contributors.
Thorough understanding of the impact of child performance regulations and ensuring adherence to these in planning and filming stages.
To be aware of the BBC risk assessments process for location filming and for helping us to ensure a safe working environment
The Ideal Candidate
Experience as a researcher on location programme requiring detailed research and production skills.
Strong analytical thinking and the ability to assess complex information to provide accurate and engaging summaries of research. Must be able to evaluate this information and material and present it to the Producer in an appropriate form.
Experience of casting for diverse child contributors is imperative. Particular knowledge and experience of working with pre-school children would be beneficial in these roles.
Should have experience of briefing and looking after child contributors and/or presenters on location.
Good understanding of television production techniques and procedures.
A knowledge and understanding of the children's diverse audience and an awareness of BBC Children's competitors. Should also have a knowledge of and interest in contemporary culture and entertainment particularly affecting children
Experience of working effectively with a team - able to demonstrate judgement on appropriate referral of issues to more experienced members of the production team.
Good understanding of the potential of multi-platform and an aptitude to learn online skills preferred. Should also have a genuine interest in developing compelling integrated content for the programme /series.
Knowledge and understanding of the child licensing process and child working hours imperative along with knowledge of BBC editorial guidelines and responsibilities particularly in relation to working with children.A thorough understanding of the clearance of all copyright material, including archive, music and stills is essential
Desirable to have experience of brainstorming ideas for children's programmes and contributing to scripts
