Researcher/Assistant Producer

London / Remote

We are seeking a Researcher or an Assistant Producer for the initial stages of a high-profile, one-off documentary about a progressive neurological condition that affects around 1 in 500 people in the UK, including the principal subject of the documentary.

The role entails identifying and verifying all potential sources of information about the condition - including proactive research interviews with recognised, specialist experts. As well as also assessing such experts as potential contributors, an ability to understand and then distil the information they provide into concise briefing notes is essential. Therefore a passion for, or interest in medical/scientific issues would be desirable, along with good listening, writing and speaking skills.

In addition to establishing key factual information, from as many sources as possible and suggesting ideas for a diverse cast of relevant contributors, the Researcher will work closely with the Director, PM and Executive Producer in devising and helping to set-up imaginative and engaging shoots that contribute to the narrative of the documentary.

In order to meet relevant people and to attend possible shoots, candidates should be prepared to travel where necessary.

Whilst not a necessity, ability to self-shoot is desirable.

Start date TBC, with an initial 5 week contract. This is a London based production but with the exception of a few meetings in London, this role can be worked from home if there is a viable home set up in place.

Our aim is to make high quality television programmes that are enjoyed by a wide audience and we are committed to representing people of all backgrounds both in front of and behind the camera, providing an inclusive and supportive environment. We welcome applications from disabled people and other under-represented groups in our industry. We are happy to discuss any assistance you may need during your application in terms of reasonable adjustments, so please do get in touch with us if you require any support.

We also invite applicants who wish to propose part time and/or job-sharing roles.
