Production Manager

Northampton

Job Purpose:
• To work with the Head of Production to ensure the smooth delivery of MIN productions to the highest standards within the set parameters and resources.
• In collaboration with Head of Production, Producers and creative teams, you will ensure the most effective use of resources in the realisation of all production and technical elements of MIN productions

Key Task Areas:
• To actively contribute to the effective operation of the Production Department's work.
• To work with the Head of Production and HODs in the effective planning and management of Production Department operations, in relation to all shows.
• To ensure that all production operations are carried out in compliance with relevant and applicable Health & Safety legislation and any other applicable statutory regulations or legislation.
• To work alongside the designers and production manager to ensure that the process towards White Card/Outline Design creates a design that is within the parameters set for the project.
• To work with the Producers, Artistic Director, and Head of Production on initial planning and costings of allocated productions and projects.
• The accurate interpretation of the final design to ensure precise analysis of feasibility.
• Produce and distribute technical design information to departments and contractors.
• Chair production meetings for allocated shows to review and control critical issues.
• To ensure that designs and all aspects of the productions comply with Health & Safety and other applicable legislation.
• To plan construction in the workshops in conjunction with the Technical Manager (Royal) and Workshop Manager, taking into account the requirements of other productions in the schedule.
• To engage and manage external contractors to deliver elements of productions as required.
• To monitor expenditure and production progress on allocated productions and communicate any areas of concern in a timely fashion.
• To plan and manage, in conjunction with the HODs and production team, fit ups, production periods and get outs for allocated productions
• To act as a point of contact, support and information for incoming freelance PMs on shows and other project
• To liaise with the Company Stage Manager and Head of Production on the recruitment of stage management teams for productions.
• To work alongside HR and Head of Production to ensure that MIN productions remains in line with relevant union agreements.

Additional Responsibilities
• Promote and adhere to the organisation's culture and values.
• To be aware of, adhere to, and implement any legislative requirements consistent with overall duties of this post, with particular regard to Health and Safety policies and procedures, General Data Protection Regulations and Equality Act 2010.
• Adhere at all times to the procedures laid down in Financial Regulations.
• To undergo relevant training and development required by the Head of Production.
• To carry out any other tasks that will, from time to time be allocated by the Head of Production on an ad hoc or continuing basis, commensurate with the general level of responsibility of the post.

Relationships/Position in the Organisation:
• Managed by the Head of Production

Location of employment:
Position is based 5 days per week Royal & Derngate, Northampton.

Essential Desirable Experience
• At least three years' experience at a senior level in technical theatre.
• Prior experience of coordinating professional theatre projects and delivering them to the highest artistic and technical level.
• The ability to demonstrate excellent technical and financial control

Knowledge/Qualifications
• Knowledge and experience of current Health and Safety issues and legislation.
• A good knowledge of production and technical techniques including stage, construction, rigging, lighting, sound and projection.
• PC literate (including Word, Excel and CAD).

• Proven project management, organisational and time management skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Self motivated and pro-active approach.
• Ability and willingness to work flexible hours.

Experience
• Production Management experience

Knowledge/Qualifications
• A degree in Technical Theatre and/or equivalent professional experience within a theatre environment
• Health & Safety qualification or training

Skills
• CAD drafting skills (AutoCAD)
• Full clean driving licence
• First aid training
