Production Manager

London

This part-time role is for a self-employed Production Manager for a 3-month initial contract (with 1 week probationary period). We are looking for someone to work 1-2 days a week on one US production between July and 8th October. As part of this you will also be consulting with the production company on setting up some TV production management systems, as they currently work primarily in other areas of content. We are flexible about how you manage your time as long as you are available during the shoot period in late August and edit in September/early October.

You will primarily be responsible for overseeing the financial and logistical elements of a current affairs film shooting in Ohio that deals with sensitive issues around children and criminal activity, so some experience on US productions, and with such subjects would be ideal. We would also want someone senior enough that they can effectively 'train' the current Director of Operations at the production company in what is required for a factual TV production (in terms of paperwork, crewing, delivery, accounting, insurance etc) as the production goes along, and ensure that the appropriate systems are set up to complement their existing ones. The company is a media production client of Blue Door's who is expanding their business into factual TV development in the UK and the U.S.

The role will have a high degree of autonomy, but working within Blue Door's small, friendly team. There is also the potential opportunity for this to become ongoing part-time work as the company's production slate grows. It might suit a parent who needs some flexibility in hours, and is willing to take on basic PM tasks, but has senior experience and is interested in helping fledgling production companies or divisions grow.

You will be able to work partly from home, and/ or from a creative co-working space that we use in London Fields, E8; and occasionally from the client's office in London Bridge.

Day-rate dependent on experience; paid monthly.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE & INTERESTS
• Experienced Production Manager, used to working on factual and documentary projects for broadcast and digital platforms, preferably in UK and US
• Experience in Head of Production / Production Start-up areas, including financial systems, contract negotiation, insurance, forecasting etc. Ability to, or experience in, training others in these areas.

DESIRABLE EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE & INTERESTS
• Personal interest and experience in fields/topics including innovation; medicine & health; government; science & technology; emotion-led human interest stories; social issues such as drugs, crime; law enforcement; air & space; cars & vehicle technology all useful for working with this company
• Knowledge or experience of negotiating co-production and distribution deals a bonus
