Production Manager
London
This role is a key part of the Reversioning team that manage programme versions through the broadcast chain for EMEA Regions. The Production manager is responsible for the smooth running of the Ops and finances of the department, budgeting and supporting productions and operational projects. You will also help drive new initiatives, guide production coordination of the team, as well as providing key performance metrics and analysis. This role is fixed term contract covering maternity leave.
Responsibilities
Providing key support to Senior Director on department projects, including project management, collating of metrics and ensuring timely milestones with key stakeholders.
Providing key support on productions and department projects, financial reporting and forecasting.
Working closely with the Global Technology & Operations departments of Discovery on shared business goals.
Creating and managing budgets for green-lit customisation and department projects.
Managing the production team to set up filming for internal customisations, booking crew & travel, organising permits, creating call sheets and providing on location support.
Liaising between Reversioning managers and production companies/ suppliers for external work, and key internal stakeholders in the Production Management Department.
Support the day to day production process of the wider team
Managing the raising of PO's and processing reversioning and programming related invoices.
Leading the team Production Coordinator, Talent Booker and their duties, such as VO & Audio booking, schedule maintenance, asset ordering, music cue sheet processing, finance tracking and freelancer invoice processing. Ensuring contracts are issued and resolving any issues.
Coordinating channels from an operations point of view and being a point of contact for queries from the business as required.
Measure and manage service level provided and reporting back to the business.
Managing or inputting as required to the development of our systems including our workflow management tool PALM, working collaboratively with other stake holders.
Providing monthly cost estimates and budget and volume summaries to Director of Reversioning and Finance.
Working with key US contacts to manage International supply of LIVE shows being taking by Regions outside of the US, including management of Reversioning requirements for evergreen versions.
Requirements
Proven track record in Production Management and broadcast operations in an international environment.
Be a content person and engage with the Discovery programming.
To be personable & engaging; to forge working relationships with other departments.
Great communication skills and the ability to influence across the business with tact & diplomacy.
Experience in workflow analysis and development an advantage.
Must be well versed in the governance of productivity, metrics and budgets.
Good IT skills. Intermediate to advanced Excel skills a must. IBMS and programme tracking experience preferable or experience of similar rights management systems.
To be self-sufficient & pro-active; excellent time management skills, able to plan ahead.
