To play a key role in the ITV News, London, programme team, producing high-quality packages and shaping other content for all programmes and platforms. To contribute innovative structure, graphics and picture treatments, as well as ideas for coverage and interviews. To write engaging and accurate scripts and lead-ins and take a lead role in output editing bulletins. To work on the Planning desk and contribute to the digital operation when required.

Responsibilities
Producing packages for reporters
Writing scripts, lead-ins, headlines and subbing
Sourcing video and stills, editing programmes using AVID
Output editing summaries and bulletins
Selecting and clipping up video and soundbites for Ulays, headlines and packages
Researching background material for reporters and presenters
Finding contributors for reports, packages and films
Conceiving, writing and executing graphics in packages and programmes
Contributing story ideas and treatments
Being alert to news wires and breaking stories
Sourcing and logging of pictures and stills
Working on the ITV News, London, website, including the updating of stories and uploading video
Working on the Planning desk as and when required
Maintaining awareness of legal and compliance issues

Qualifications
Knowledge and experience of news and current affairs
Good knowledge of ITV London News editorial aims and standards
Strong attention to detail and scrupulous checking of facts
High-quality news judgement, good initiative and a self-starter
High level of technical ability in editing and production of graphics
Sound research skills
Concise writing style with flair, accuracy and focus
Understanding of graphics with an eye for innovation and detail
Rich pool of ideas for stories, angles and treatments
Excellent communicator and team player with a positive attitude
Good knowledge of Ofcom regulations and the ITN compliance manual
Ability to work in both a large team and independently where required
Awareness of Health and Safety requirements
Awareness and understanding of the financial implications of all decision making
Personal authority and the ability to manage a group of people
