Production Executive

The Production Executive reports to the Head of Production UK CDS & Daytime Drama and will provide strategic production management from post commission to post-delivery.
The ideal candidate must be prepared to work across the range of network drama continuing series & daytime output based in London & the nations & regions.
Role Responsibility
Act as key advisor to the Editorial Heads and Executive Producers on policy, enabling them to balance editorial aims and delivery requirements with financial and resource constraints across a portfolio of output.
Identify and develop appropriate strategies in response to key business, financial and production issues which impact upon the long term creative viability of the drama business.
Contribute to the formation and implementation of Drama policies and procedures, identifying where changes may be required to enable Drama to produce programmes which exceed the expectations of the audience and give us the leading-edge on our competitors.
Lead the way in raising industry standards and pioneer new working practices
Lead and develop the capability of a team of Production Management staff
Lead the assessment of the financial viability of programme ideas within the portfolio and to identify and eliminate unacceptable financial risks.
Increase business efficiency and cost effectiveness by identifying and delivering savings, and reductions in cost. To ensure value for money in the acquisition and use of facilities and services. In particular, this should include production planning, procurement and new technology.
Manage and control costs across his/her programme portfolio, ensuring the Line Producer adheres to agreed budgets, timescales and delivery dates
Manage the timely provision of accurate portfolio expenditure forecasts and progress reports, establishing and setting cost/forecasting priorities with the Line Producer to enable cost/schedule risks to be identified and managed effectively
Support the Producer/Line Producer with any major issues which require more senior resolution
Are you the right candidate?
Extensive in depth knowledge and proven experience of Drama production management to the level of Line Producer & demonstrable knowledge and interest in post-production.
Excellent organisation, planning and analytical skills.
Proven communication skills to ensure effective working relationships particularly at a senior level. The ability to present information reliably and succinctly.
Proven managerial experience working effectively as part of a senior management team.
Proven ability to work successfully at a strategic level and the ability to provide leadership for staff within the production management family
Demonstrable experience of successful change management and evidence of introducing new ways of thinking and working practices into the workplace
An informed interest in and knowledge of the market place, including co-production and joint venture agreements. Demonstrates ability to apply this knowledge to the BBCs advantage
Effectiveness in challenging financial assumptions underpinned by thorough knowledge and understanding of contractual arrangements
Demonstrable evidence of the ability to handle conflict in the work place and resolve problems as they arise. Evidence of fostering collaborative behaviour in a way which encourages best practice across all areas of programme making.
Sound business knowledge, including knowledge of BBC financial and administrative procedures.
A thorough appreciation and understanding of the editorial intentions and managerial aims of and within Drama and the ability to evaluate the production and business implications of these.
Ability to make and stand by tough decisions in the long term interests of the department in a way which encourages commitment from individuals/department.
