Job DescriptionWe're looking for experienced Production Electricians to join our database of freelancers. You'll need to be well versed in reading lighting plots to understand power requirements and cabling systems; able rig truss safely and understand safe working loads; focus lamps and operate follow spots; follow instructions from the lighting designer and lighting gaffer; understanding faults and making running repairs as required and have experience of working on live and pre-recorded productions. Immediate starts for short- and long-term projects available in both the UK and overseas.Production Electrician's work across a wide variety of television programmes in studios, outside broadcasts, locations, events and drama. The function is to provide television production lighting services underpinned by electrical qualification and competence.The work can sometimes be physically demanding and requires manual handling and rigging, work at height, driving equipment vehicles, travel, and staying away from home is sometimes necessary.Key responsibilities· Will sometimes supervise other Electricians or persons with varying experience and competence.· Undertakes planning of production related electrical and lighting equipment, to achieve programme ambitions in consideration of the working environment, of available time and resources, and of team competence.· Rigs, operates and de-rigs production lighting and associated equipment, including generators where competent, and practical and effects lighting.Knowledge and experience· Must be able to carry out electrical installation work in accordance with the current IET Wiring regulations BS7671 17th Edition.· Ideally will hold City & Guilds 2391, or 2395 Inspection, Testing and Certification of Electrical installations.· Ideally will have knowledge of BS7909 Code of practice for temporary electrical systems for entertainment and related purposes.· Ideally will have experience in production lighting in broadcasting or a similar environment and will have knowledge of new technologies available in production lighting
