In June 2015, Discovery Inc. secured a ground-breaking deal with the International Olympic Committee for all TV and multi-platform broadcast rights in Europe for the four Olympic Games in the 2018-2024*. Since January 2017, Discovery's leading sports brand - Eurosport - has been known as the Home of the Olympics in Europe and successfully delivered the 2018 Olympic Winter Games, the company's first Olympic Games production, to more people on more screens across the Continent.
Discovery and Eurosport are looking to fill various roles to support our coverage of the Olympic Games Tokyo 2020 from 24 July - 9 August 2020.
Discovery Eurosport is hiring a Sports Operations Production Coordinator on a fixed-term basis, who will assist with the coordination of the channel's broadcast requirements within the Sports and Olympic Operations department. The role will report to the Director of Olympic Operations.
*Eurosport is Home of the Olympics in Europe. Excludes France 2018-2020. Excludes Russia. Eurosport will be an Official Broadcaster in the UK 2018 and 2020.
Responsibilities:
-Assist the Director in coordinating and planning production activities including:
-Provide assistance to Production Managers working across multiple sports programming.
-Maintain a project timeline for the Operations Team.
-Cost tracking production budgets and preparing reports for production and finance teams.
-Carry out administrative duties including setting up vendors, preparing purchase orders, reconciling invoices and tracking monthly expense claims.
-Prepare and review internal documents for management and production staff including call sheets
-Liaising with internal departments including Operations, Engineering and Production to prepare for events.
-Cost tracking production budgets and preparing reports for production and finance teams.
-Schedule, organize and book meetings and facilities, prepare and book travel itineraries for members of the department.
Requirements:
-Relevant training will be given, but sports operations and broadcast coordinating experience from large sporting events will be an advantage.
-Smartsheet or Microsoft project experience would be beneficial.
-Confident at troubleshooting on the spot and prioritising tasks in a fast-paced environment.
-This role might include substantial international travel with long and often unsociable hours including nights, weekends and public holidays.
-Demonstrate precise attention to detail whilst working to tight deadlines.
-Competent with MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook) and Adobe software products (Photoshop, InDesign).
-Japanese and or Chinese speaker with strong oral and written communication skills would be an advantage but not essential.
