The National Theatre's New Work Department is housed in the National Theatre Studio and is the engine room for developing work towards production for all the National Theatre's stages. The New Work Department team oversees a slate of commissioned plays and process-led work, focussing its capacity and resources on bringing them to fruition. In addition, the Department is responsible for all new work initiatives such as the Genesis Music Theatre Group. It receives unsolicited script submissions year round, leads on commissioning and dramaturgy for Connections, runs the Staff Director programme, devises courses and other opportunities for talent development and training, manages the Resident Directors, Writers and Artists on Attachment, and Writer in Residence.
We are currently looking for someone who will provide; production, technical and administrative support to the New Work Department. You will constantly respond to the demands of evolving workshops including production and technical duties, in addition to office duties which support the development of New Work. You will be an integral part of the team, and will take an active role in all of the department's activities. This is a unique opportunity for someone to learn key skills to later develop into production and stage management roles.
You will have experience of working in an office-based environment, the ability to deliver work accurately and with great attention to detail, continually respecting confidentiality and discretion and experience of working in an office-based environment.
