Production Assistant

Farringdon, London

*Who are Flying Object?*
Flying Object is a small, friendly, unconventional creative agency with an in-house production team. Not into interruptive or traditional advertising, we make content and installations that people actually like. We produce all kinds of media, but predominantly work on video, digital, and installation/experiential projects for brands, cultural institutions, tech companies and publishers, with a heavy emphasis on internet culture.

You can see some of our work for clients like Google, YouTube, BBC, British Council, truTV, and International Rescue Committee at www.weareflyingobject.com.

Some of our highlights include a ten minute guided meditation narrated by a drag queen for RuPaul's Drag Race, a 360 degree photo with YouTube creators at the National Portrait Gallery and a multisensory art exhibition deemed "small but mighty" by the Guardian for Tate.

*Who is the ideal candidate?*
We're looking for an amazing Production Assistant to join the team; someone with ambition, skills and a proactive attitude, who we will actively support in their career progression to become one of our star producers.

*Applicants should have these essential characteristics:*
- One to two years previous experience in a production or shoot environment (in any industry, made up of in-house roles or freelance positions)
- In two years time, want to be a producer of videos for brands and engaging social campaigns, and/or experiential installations and events
- Have a genuine interest in internet culture and can come up with creative ideas to briefs in a team brainstorm
- Be organised, with attention to detail and excellent time management skills
- Good computer literacy skills (particularly working on Gmail, Google Calendar, Google Drive and Slack)
- Good communication skills

Skills that are of benefit but not essential include:
- Working knowledge of Adobe Suite (Premiere Pro, Photoshop etc)
- Edit assistant/data management experience

*Job Description*
Almost every project we do is different, and we're looking for a Production Assistant who is happy to be involved in every step of the process and keen to learn. The role involves working closely with our three in-house producers to deliver video, digital and installation projects, as well as with the creative team to research for new briefs and pitches.

The role also includes many ad hoc company admin and office management tasks, so a flexible and proactive 'can do' attitude is essential. Rest assured, we all share tea and coffee making duties! The right candidate will blend in with our friendly and collaborative company culture.

From the get-go, you should be confident with carrying out the following tasks with minimal supervision:

Production
- Assisting with all aspects of pre-production (paperwork, locations, talent, legals, licensing, travel, accommodation and catering booking, sourcing crew and kit, booking suppliers)
- Assisting on shoots / at live events (running, talent chaperoning)
- Assisting in post-production (media logging, data and file management and back-up)

Pitching
- Research for briefs
- Sourcing example locations, talent, and references
- Contributing creative ideas

Helping you on your way to becoming a Producer we will also train you up to carry out duties which might be new to you:
- Creating and maintaining project budgets and timelines
- Client/account management
- QA testing and asset management for digital projects
- Testing for installation/experiential projects

*The Application Process*
Interested? By 19th Dec 2017, please send a CV, along with a covering letter. We'd like you to share two things with us in your application:

1. In 200 words give us one example when you have done one of the following:
a) Managed a budget (it could be feeding 20 people on £200), or
b) Delivered a task to deadline (maybe a fast turnaround research task to find talent or a location), or
c) Been responsible for a small section of a broader project (for example sourcing contributors or extras for a shoot)

2. Tell us about a video, website, installation, marketing campaign or exhibition you have seen recently, really enjoyed and why.

We will then be conducting telephone interviews and inviting candidates for in person interviews in early January.

We are an equal opportunities employer and welcome applications from all suitably qualified persons regardless of their race, sex, disability, religion/belief, sexual orientation or age.
