Producer/Director (Self-Shooting)

Econ Films are looking for a Self-Shooting Producer-Director to join our team on a three-month contract, with possible extensions and the chance of becoming a permanent member of our team.

About your role
You will be responsible for producing and directing ongoing productions - and in doing so helping to build a thriving company. The most critical of these responsibilities include:
- Managing existing productions from Brief all the way through to Delivery.
- Producing & Directing, including self-shooting on a Canon C300 or C200 and editing where required.
- Managing clients, including the ability to define a Brief when the client themselves need guidance on what they want
- Understanding our core specialisms: economics, finance and business. Seeking opportunities to deliver more to our clients and to approach develop new productions for new clients
- Working with our in-house production team of Editor and Production Co-Ordinator and reporting to our Executive Producer

Applicant skills and experience:
As a young company, we particularly value ability and attitude. We need someone who has a burning desire to become more than they can as a freelancer.

We recognise that this job will require a wide mix of skills and experience. Our intention is that you will learn and train on the job to fill in any gaps.

Essential attributes:
- Proven ability to learn quickly and adapt on the job;
- Proven ability to work within a team;
- A passion for documentary and educational video and films;
- Knowledge in our areas of specialism: economics, business, finance or public policy;
- Self-shooting, preferably with a Canon C300 or similar;
- Strong visual story-teller with ability to edit narratives from interviews and documentaries;
- A self-starter who is confident and comfortable dealing with top-level talent and challenging clients;
- Experience in at least one of: corporate, documentary or educational productions;
- Knowledge of the full end-to-end production workflow from concept to finished production on productions with budgets in the region of £20,000 per video (with experience conducting interviews and self-shooting for these productions)
- Passport permitting international travel;
- Based in London or willing to move;
- Right to work in the UK and EU;
- Bachelors degree or equivalent, ideally in one of our specialist subjects.

Desired attributes:
- Experience in broadcast production and/or journalism;
- Ability to edit and work on Adobe post-production suites: Premier and After Effects
- Experience in social media and online marketing;
- Relationships with potential new clients;
- Full driving licence
