Producer (Programming)

The Producer is responsible for helping lead the creation and production of CNBC's live business news shows and show segments, working with the Supervising Producer on overall content and production. A key function of this role is editing and subbing scripts and production elements in the daily rundown, as well as helping train and develop the skills of more junior producers. The role is ideal for candidates with extensive TV production experience and proven knowledge of business news content.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
* Support the Supervising Producer in managing the show production team
* Responsible for effective delegation of tasks such as segments, scripts, graphics and guest booking
* Write headlines and key top stories in the daily rundown
* Build the initial structure and stacking live show rundowns
* Sub-edit scripts, graphics and production elements to ensure error free output and editorial integrity.
* Help the Supervising Producer forward plan the shows for the next week and weeks ahead
* Plan and execute compelling story ideas in both live, pre-recorded and package formats, ensuring clear communication with producers and reporters in the field
* Produce and project-manage live and pre-recorded outside broadcasts across EMEA
* Live gallery production, with a responsibility for reacting to breaking news
* Build and maintain relationships with CNBC guests and contributors
* Pitch story and guest ideas and coordinate closely with news desk in booking guests
* Communicate with news editors, anchors, and operations staff
* Cooperate with other departments, especially the operations, gallery and graphics teams to make the best possible programming. Work with CNBC global teams as necessary
REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
* University degree or equivalent experience.
* Previous experience within a leading international news organisation.
* Previous experience in TV News Production and monitoring, selecting and delivering breaking news.
* Capable of handling short deadlines and work in a fast-paced and demanding live news environment.
* Deep interest and excellent knowledge of global business, economics, financial markets and geopolitics.
* Proven experience of creating and overseeing economic and business news shows or bulletins
* Previous experience in story and headline selection
* Extensive experience in writing and editing scripts
* A clear understanding of CNBC's editorial and programming priorities.
* Control room/gallery experience, specifically line producing entire programmes
* Experience in day-to-day management of on air talent, being point person for both anchors and reporters
* Excellent communication skills.
* Previous experience at coordinating collaboration between input and output sides of the newsroom, as well as other departments such as editing and graphics
* Knowledge of iNews, Video editing TV Production systems, TV graphic systems
* Strong understanding of the role of social media in news broadcasting and multi-platform delivery.
