Producer

Manchester

Job Introduction
We are committed to delivering innovative and engaging content to the children's audience across the UK. We provide a trusted environment which is enriching, enabling and relevant to our audience. Our content seeks to entertain, inform and empower children, adding real value to their lives.

The Development team holds a crucial, creative role within the Children's department and plays a huge part in the output that is made. We have an excellent track record of winning commissions across both Children's channels but are ambitious to do even more. We are looking for an experienced Producer to join our team in Salford.

Role Responsibility

You will work to the Head of Unscripted Development to produce and develop ideas and content for both our channels for all our platforms. You will play a key role in ensuring we deliver our key objectives including engaging and growing our audience reach and appreciation.
To develop fun, robust factual, comedy and entertainment formats for 0-16's which help prepare the audience for adult life and reflect the commissioning priorities for 2020/21 onwards.
Identifying and engaging existing mainstream and emerging new talent to anchor exciting new ideas.
Producing engaging, exciting and innovative programme proposal briefs, presentations and taster tapes.
Setting up, participating in and facilitating creative brainstorms with both the development team and colleagues.
Working closely with the interactive, short form and social leads to develop truly multiplatform ideas.
To take responsibility for specific development projects and manage the workflow of those projects day to day, utilising the wider skill set of the development team and ensuring junior members of the team are nurtured and developed.
Develop relationships with key suppliers and innovators, such as new tech start-ups, studio, crews and edit facilities that may help realise ideas.
Take responsibility for delivering to tight deadlines while maintaining the highest editorial standards.
To be able to suggest and spot strong stories and offer creative and compelling ways of formatting and telling these stories.
To use practical considerations from production experience, and work alongside the PM team, in order to build workable schedules and budgets to accompany pitches.
While you can expect to be in the office for the majority of your time, this role involves travel to connect with local children or to attend filming, screen-tests or talent meetings, as required.
The Children's Unscripted Development Producer will report directly to the Head of Unscripted Development, who is based in Salford. This role will also involve collaboration with the Genre Leads for Factual, Preschool, and Comedy Entertainment.
This role will be one of two Children's Unscripted Development Producers focusing predominantly on factual and entertainment content, with a small core team including researcher and production management, swelling to accommodate APs, researchers or other specific requirements needed during the pitching process.

Are you the right candidate?

You'll have experience of working with internal and external stakeholders and maintaining effective relationships, be a creative thinker with a significant track record in developing new content for the 0-16 and family audience, with the ability to lead, motivate and inspire development and production teams in a multi-platform environment.
Good knowledge of the wider media landscape including both children and grownup content across various platforms and major media providers.
You will have a good understanding of television and multiplatform production and practical skills.
As a strong communicator with effective planning and organising skills, you will have the ability to concentrate on several areas of work at one time, prioritising and delivering consistently to deadlines.
You should have experience in developing, writing and pitching formatted ideas including leading idea sessions.
Experience of working with children and the ability to get them to share their thoughts and feelings on a range of subjects.
