Capital XTRA plays the best hip-hop, R&B and grime to 1.8 million listeners across the UK. We're looking for a talented individual with proven experience of the marketplace, and the passion and creative flair to continue to engage 15-34s with our brand.

Under the guidance of the Deputy Managing Editor, you will oversee the on-air editorial direction of Capital XTRA In The Morning, alongside offering support for other shows and station initiatives.

You will also be responsible for the social media output of Capital XTRA In The Morning, working to the brief of the Managing Editor (Digital).

What will you be doing

You'll be obsessed with Capital XTRA, working proactively towards increasing the station's listening hours and reach at all times.
You'll be planning, preparing and and delivering great content to a high standard across multi-platforms.
You'll be enthusiastic about social media and confident in using it to grow brand awareness and interaction
You will work closely with the wider Capital XTRA team, and the best of our on-air talent.
You'll be clear in your communications with presenters and other producers so that the station image is protected, ensuring that all programme content and technical standards are maintained to the highest level
You'll be able to operate calmly under pressure.
You'll know Capital XTRA and you'll know exactly what our target audience likes, their taste in music, and their lifestyle choices - and you'll use that knowledge to help make great audience-appropriate radio.

What we expect of you

You'll have excellent communication, talent management and talent development skills in order to assist in the development of key programmes.
You'll be a strong team player and be comfortable working with well-known presenters as well as producers and all other staff at Capital XTRA and Global.
You'll need to have the ability to operate production and audio editing software and will also know your way around Genesys playout software.
You'll be up to date with OFCOM regulations.
You'll understand that, as a commercial radio station, you will need to operate in a way that benefits both our listeners and our advertisers.
You'll know and respond positively to the needs and expectations of others to achieve the right outcome
You'll be confident when working towards your own personal objectives as well as helping the team work towards broader Capital XTRA targets.
