To produce high-quality, original news coverage and films with home affairs correspondents. Providing original journalism, editorial drive and ideas.

Responsibilities
Work across all C4 News output, including 7pm and multimedia output as directed
Produce reporters and correspondents for on-the-day and planned coverage
Write scripts, lead-ins, select picture, research and produce packages
Originate story angles for distinctive coverage
Find contributors for reports and live guests where applicable
Produce creative films
Generate ideas for stories, seasons and multimedia coverage
Provide imaginative treatments for complex stories
Use AVID to ingest material in the field and in the newsroom
Use desktop editing to log, cut, shot-list, top and tail feeds and rushes
Use AVID Newscutter to edit packaged reports
Ensure stories are accurate and comply with the law and relevant regulations
Work in accordance with ITN guidelines on health and safety in the office and in the field
Occasionally work on the output, news-desk or other teams
Undertake work in the field, at home and abroad, producing coverage and working on OBs
Occasional work with independent reporters or companies
Liaise with the online team to generate engaging content for the C4 News website
Deal professionally with members of the public & guests

Qualifications
Highly-developed knowledge and experience of covering Home Affairs
A proven track record of breaking stories and producing original journalism
High quality news judgement
Editorial creativity and imagination
Ability to work autonomously and under own initiative
Visual flair for spotting pictures and producing graphics
Excellent writing ability
Technical adaptability and flexibility
Experience of awkward legal situations and comprehensive understanding of ITN Legal Compliance procedures
Understanding of Channel 4 News agenda
Good interpersonal skills, team player with personal authority and the ability to manage a group of people
Calm under pressure with the ability to adapt and be flexible in task and role
Ability to work to a deadline
Play an authoritative role in team editorial meetings presenting ideas in a persuasive manner
Able to work in an autonomous manner
Act with responsibility and common sense in the field and office, in compliance with ITN's Health and Safety Policies
