Job DescriptionResponsibilitiesAs a television/film/video producer, you'll need to:raise fundingread, research and assess ideas and finished scriptscommission writers or secure the rights to novels, plays or screenplaysbuild and develop a network of contactsliaise and discuss projects with financial backers - projects can range from a small, corporate video costing £500 to a multimillion-pound-budget Hollywood feature filmuse computer software packages for screenwriting, budgeting and schedulinghire key staff, including a director and a crew to shoot programmes, films or videoscontrol the budget and allocate resourcespull together all the strands of creative and practical talent involved in the project to create a teammaintain contemporary technical skillsorganise shooting schedules - dependent on the type of producer role and availability of support stafftroubleshootensure compliance with relevant regulations, codes of practice and health and safety lawssupervise the progress of the project from production to distributionhold regular meetings with the director and act as a sounding board for the directorbring the finished production in on budget.Working HoursNormal working hours are from Mondays thru Fridays, from 9am to 4pm.However, as per the film and television industry norm, sometimes work involves regular unsocial hours at weekends and sometimes long hours and time spent in meetings or on location is required.What to ExpectThe working environment may vary. You may be required to spend a lot of time in the office or may be based in a studio or on location. Much of the work is in Callander or London, but location work can be anywhere in the world.You need to be highly motivated and able to withstand pressure, as this job can be very stressful.Flexibility and mobility are extremely important, as is the ability to handle a high level of financial responsibility.Qualifications NeededThe position requires 6 or more years of progressively responsible experience as a TV/Film Producer. The ability to lead a production team in the creation of full-length programmes is the primary skill set required for this position. To this end, exceptional management, negotiation, planning, organizational, financial and creative video presentation skills are a must. Preference will also be given to those with a bachelor's or higher degree in television production, film making and/or journalism.
